We want you to enjoy your AGAVANZA jewellery as long as possible. These are a few tips to keep your jewellery in good condition:
- In these COVID-19 times, please know that hand sanitizers can be very damaging to your rings, especially those with gemstones, amber, pearls and/or enamel.
- Amber is particularly sensitive to cosmetic products, such as soap, hair spray , perfume and lotions. After applying any of these, wait at least 30 minutes before putting on your jewellery.
- Keep your jewellery dry: do not wear it in the shower, pool or sea.
- Be careful with fragrances, and always apply things like lotions and hairspray before jewellery.
- Limit exposure to direct sunlight. Damp and hot conditions can cause jewellery to tarnish.
- Remove jewellery before doing any activities to avoid contact with sweat or sunscreen; i.e. exercising, cleaning, gardening.
- Avoid wearing your jewellery while sleeping.
- The best place to store your jewellery (and the best way to keep it tarnish free) is in a plastic zipped up bag, or in your AGAVANZA box. Try to store your jewellery pieces separately, so they do not tangle and rub against each other.
- Often it is enough to clean your jewellery using warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Make sure you dry the pieces with a soft cloth or towel afterwards. You can also use silver dip solution or a silver cloth to brighten up your jewellery. We sell special cloths you can use to polish your silver and gold, please contact us for more details.
- Gold plating can and will wear off over time, but if you handle it with care it can last for years. – how long it lasts depends on a number of factors: chemical and/or cosmetic products used, or even the pH of your skin. It is therefore important to handle gold plated jewellery extra carefully.
